ABOUT THE COMPANY
B. Riley House is a substance abuse treatment facility for adult
LGBTQIA+ persons. Our primary purpose is to enhance the social, spiritual, emotional, and
physical health of our clients. We provide a safe, tolerant, culturally sensitive, and affirming living
space in a clean and sober environment. We cater exclusively to members of the LGBTQ+
community and our allies who are looking for a way out of the pain and misery of substance abuse
through outside substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health (MH) providers. Our primary
purpose is to help members of the LGBTQ+ community achieve long-term sobriety, reduce
recidivism in detox centers and treatment centers, and provide continued support to individuals in
their recovery journey.
We offer our residents a wide range of services from partial hospitalization programming (PHP),
intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), mental health assessment and treatment, coming out,
transgender issues, individual and group therapy, 12-step programs, and case management.
B. Riley House gives members of this community the opportunity to be treated by professionals
who know from experience the struggles of getting sober and staying sober.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Performs substance use disorder and mental health counseling
work on an individual patient basis and in a group setting. Responsible for servicing primary
caseload along with other patients as assigned, and documenting in accordance with company
standards. Counselors will demonstrate the clinical skills necessary to provide a full range of
recovery-oriented, substance use clinical services, including but not limited to screening,
assessment, intake, treatment/discharge/recovery planning, individual and group counseling, case
management and referral to necessary resources, and psychoeducation. All Counselors are
provided workspace to conduct counseling sessions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet at least one of the following criteria:
related human services field.

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with a major in counseling,
related human services field.
- Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) certified by the Florida Certification Board
- Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC) certified by the Florida Certification Board
LICENSES, CERTIFICATION AND REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Florida Driver's License.
- Must pass background and fingerprinting checks.
- Must pass drug screen.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to manage time and resources.
- Ability to speak coherently and convey concepts.
- Basic Computer proficiency required.
- Comprehensive & up-to-date knowledge of addiction treatment methods.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS
- Ability to write accurately and legibly.
- Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time.
- Ability to sit in meetings for extended periods of time.
- Ability to move throughout program facilities both indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to lift and carry 10 pounds.
- Good hearing and vision.
COMPENSATION
- $21.00 - $25.00 an hour
