1. What is B. Riley House?
B. Riley House is a supportive living environment for individuals in recovery, particularly focused on the LGBTQ+ community, providing a safe space for healing and growth.
2. Who is eligible to stay at B. Riley House? Do I need to be part of the LGBTQ community to become a resident at B. Riley House?
We welcome all individuals who are committed to recovery. You do not need to identify as LGBTQ+ to be welcomed to B. Riley House.
3. Do you accept people from outside Cleveland, Ohio and Miami, Florida?
Yes, we welcome residents from across the country and outside of the areas of our two centers in Cleveland and Miami. However, we encourage potential clients to contact us to discuss availability and specific needs.
4. What is the admission process like?
The admission process starts with filling out one of our program applications online, followed up by us reaching out for an initial phone interview or consultation which includes a more in-depth assessment to determine if our program is the right fit for you. If you do not hear back from us within twenty-four (24) hours of filling out our online application, we encourage you to contact our office.
5. Are there any requirements for staying at B. Riley House?
Requirements are determined by levels of care but all residents must maintain sobriety, participate in group activities, and adhere to house guidelines and curfews. We are committed to helping residents remain in a structured, positive environment conducive to recovery.
6. How long can someone stay at B. Riley House?
The length of stay varies depending on individual recovery plans and progress. We work with each person to determine what is best for
their recovery.
7. What kind of services do you provide?
B. Riley House provides residential services as well as expanded clinical services such as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. In addition, we provide access to peer support, counseling, 12-step meetings, life skills training, and connections to local community resources for ongoing care.
8. Does B. Riley House offer counseling or therapy?
Residents are given individual counseling with their clinical support counselors. While we do not provide in-house mental health therapy, yet we can refer residents to trusted counselors and therapists in the area and support them in finding the right care.
9. Is there LGBTQ+ specific support available?
Yes, B. Riley House provides LGBTQ+-specific resources, peer groups, and a safe space to address challenges unique to LGBTQ+ individuals in recovery.
10. Do you accept insurance?
At our Cleveland location, we accept Ohio Medicaid plans. Our Miami location, however, accepts private insurance only. If you need assistance with other coverage options, we’re happy to provide referrals to services that may meet your needs.
11. Do you accept self-pay?
Yes, B. Riley House accepts individuals who wish to pay for services out-of-pocket.
12. What is the daily schedule like?
A typical day includes structured group meetings, individual work on recovery, community building, and personal downtime. There are set schedules for meals, meetings, and house chores.
13. Can I have visitors at B. Riley House?
Visitors are allowed to visit during designated hours with prior approval from staff and must comply with house rules and respect the recovery-focused environment.
14. What are the rules regarding substance use?
B. Riley House is a sober living environment, and any use of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. Violating this rule may result in immediate discharge from the program.
15. What should I bring with me when being admitted to B. Riley House’s residential program?
- Two (2) weeks’ worth of weather appropriate clothing items. Such as pants, shirts, sweatshirts, coats, shoes, shower shoes, house shoes, underwear socks, etc. B. Riley House does have donated clothing items available to our clients who are unable to provide clothing.
- Medication(s) in original, un-expired, pill bottle(s).
- Alcohol-free hygiene products.
- We provide towels and bedding, but residents can bring their own if they wish.
- Non-perishable and sealable snack items.
- Books, reading and writing materials.
- Tobacco products.
16. How do I contact a resident at B. Riley House to see how they are doing?
You can contact our office during business hours and if there is a Release of Information (ROI) signed for you, our staff is happy to provide you with information.
17. What medications are banned at B. Riley House?
The following medications are not permissible at B. Riley House. If you have been prescribed any of these medications, it is suggested that you have your doctor switch your medication to a comparable non-narcotic.
Adderall, Alprazolam, Ambien, Clonazepam, Codeine, Demerol, Desoxyn, Dexedrine, Fentanyl, Hydrocodone, Hydromorphone, Klonopin, Levorphanol, Loret, Lortab, Lunesta, Marijuana, Methadone, Norco, Oncet, Opium, Oxycodone, Oxycontin, Percocet, Ritalin, Subutex, Suboxone, Valium, Vicodin, Vyanse, Xanax, Xodol, and Zydone.
18. Does B. Riley House participate in Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT)?
B. Riley House residents are permitted to receive Sublocade and Vivitrol injections. However, we do not accept residents who are on Suboxone or Methadone.
19. Can I make my outside medical appointments while a resident at B. Riley House?
Yes, residents are encouraged to attend their outside medical appointments as part of their ongoing health and recovery. We can assist with scheduling and transportation arrangements if needed, ensuring that your medical needs are met while staying with us.
