Chemical Dependency Counselor
Responsible for assisting clients in mobilizing their resources through individual and group counseling so they can participate in the exploration of a problem and its ramifications. Considers clients’ attitudes and feelings and develops alternative solutions to support informed decision making by performing the following duties.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
Certifications: CDCA (Required), LCDCII (Preferred)
Experience: Minimum 2 years as a Chemical Dependency Counselor facilitating groups. (Required).
Essential Skills:
Experience and knowledge of Electronic Health Records systems, (Best Notes, Care Logic, etc)
Ability to document succinctly and thoroughly.
Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and quotas for documentation.
Compensation:
$20-$28 per hour depending on certification level and experience.

Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Facilitates both group and individual counseling as directed by Clinical Supervisor, Program Director, and Executive Director.*
- Facilitates and maintains productive communication while maintaining a professional and prosocial relationship with clients and employees.*
- Maintains appropriate boundaries with clients and employees as outlined in Agency Code of Ethics and program policies and procedures.*
- Expresses empathy regarding client situation as appropriate.*
- Recognizes antisocial thinking and behaviors immediately, positively, and in a non-threatening manner.*
- Acknowledges clients’ prosocial behaviors and generates a reward report if warranted.*
- De-escalates potentially volatile situations between clients when necessary, utilizing cognitive based intervention strategies.*
- Communicates pertinent information to co-workers effectively, Clinical Supervisor, and Program Director. (I.E. client hospitalization, client crisis, day/night passes, ASA, unknown whereabouts, positive urine screens).*
- Maintains a quota of hours of documentation per week in EHR system as mandated by Executive Director and Program Director.*
- Maintains all appropriate professional licenses and certifications and present copies thereof, as well as all Continuing Education Certificates to Clinical Supervisor and Human Resources.*
- Attends staff meetings, group supervision, and individual supervision as directed by Clinical Supervisor.*
