Ten years ago, B. Riley House opened its doors with a simple, powerful belief: recovery should be rooted in love, dignity, safety, and belonging.
Today, we’re inviting you to celebrate that belief with us at the B. Riley House 10 Years of Impact Gala. This special evening will honor a decade of recovery, community, and transformation for the LGBTQIA+ community and recognize the individuals and organizations helping LGBTQ+ clients find hope and healing.

A Decade of LGBTQ+ Affirming Recovery
B. Riley House was founded in 2016 on Denison Avenue in Cleveland. At the beginning, our work started in a home and grew through the trust of residents, families, professionals, volunteers, and community members who believed in a better way forward.
For LGBTQ+ people seeking recovery, finding care that understands the whole person can make a meaningful difference. Identity, mental health, trauma, relationships, family experiences, and substance use can all be connected. Support should never ask you to hide who you are.
That is why B. Riley House has focused on creating a recovery community where LGBTQ+ individuals and allies can feel respected, understood, and included. We’re proud to be the only LGBTQ+ treatment center in Ohio, providing a place where people can work toward recovery without leaving important parts of themselves at the door.

Growing to Meet the Community’s Needs
Over the past ten years, B. Riley House has grown in thoughtful and meaningful ways. Each step has helped us welcome more people and provide stronger support for LGBTQ+ recovery.
2016: A Beginning on Denison Avenue
B. Riley House began in a Cleveland home on Denison Avenue. From the start, our purpose was to offer a safe and affirming recovery environment for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.
2021: A Larger Cleveland Home
In summer 2021, B. Riley House moved into a larger facility on West 117th Street in Cleveland. This expansion allowed us to serve more clients and offer a wider range of support in a welcoming community setting.
2023: Dedicated Outpatient Services
In spring 2023, our outpatient services expanded into a dedicated facility on Detroit Avenue in Cleveland. This space became home to our clinical services and helped us continue building a whole-person approach to care.
2023: The RoseHouse in Miami
That same summer, B. Riley House expanded beyond Ohio with the opening of The RoseHouse in Miami, Florida. This second halfway house created another safe and supportive place for LGBTQ+ individuals working toward lasting recovery.
From one home in Cleveland to multiple locations in Cleveland and Miami, the heart of our mission has remained the same: recovery grows when people feel safe, loved, and connected.
Honoring People Who Make a Difference
The 10 Years of Impact Gala will honor individuals and organizations committed to supporting LGBTQ+ clients in recovery. This work happens in many forms.
It happens when a professional listens without judgment. It happens when an ally speaks up for inclusive care. It happens when a young person receives encouragement instead of stigma. It happens when someone in recovery is reminded that their identity is not a barrier to healing.
We’re grateful for every person who has helped create more compassionate treatment and recovery spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Big thanks to the people who have walked beside us, opened doors, offered care, shared resources, and believed in the possibility of change. This milestone belongs to the whole B. Riley House family.

Award nominations are open for five special categories. If you know someone whose commitment has helped strengthen LGBTQ+ recovery, inclusive healthcare, or community support, we welcome your nomination through the official nomination form.
The award categories are:

- LGBTQ+ Change Maker Award
- Community Ally Award
- Youth Empowerment in Recovery Award
These categories recognize the many ways people help make recovery more welcoming and accessible. You may know a clinician, advocate, organization, peer supporter, educator, family member, or ally whose actions have made a lasting difference.

More Than a Gala
This celebration is about more than one evening. It’s about the people who found a place to begin again. It’s about residents who built confidence and connection. It’s about families and friends who learned how to support recovery. It’s about professionals who continue to provide compassionate, LGBTQ+-affirming care.
At B. Riley House, our services include residential sober living, partial hospitalization programming, intensive outpatient treatment, mental health assessment and treatment, and psychotherapy courses addressing self-acceptance, coming out, transgender issues, and other experiences that can shape a person’s recovery journey.
We also offer recovery meetings that are open to the LGBTQ+ community and allies. You’re welcome to learn more about our meetings, explore our services, or contact our team if you’d like to understand more about available support.
You don’t have to know exactly what you need before reaching out. Our door is open, and we’re happy to help you take the next step at a pace that feels comfortable.
